About the event
This is a compelling story of wartime bravery, unbridled passion and eternal remembrance, capturing the drive, emotion and fervency of husband and wife, Helen and John, the purchasing of an old weathervane in 2009 then, 12 years later, the discovery of a small inscription on its fuselage which identified a WWII Lancaster bomber shot down in the early hours of 3rd January 1944, with all souls lost. The story tells of recognising and commemorating the crew, the drawing together, nearly 80 years later and for the first time, family descendants of the crew in an emotional and poignant war memorial dedication supported by the International Bomber Command Centre, and the locating of the crash site in Germany. You couldn't make it up!
